Council Election
At the next meeting of the Tourist & Progress Assn we will be drawing up a list of questions that will be put to TRC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
We have some starters to discuss at the next meeting before they are approved by the meeting:
- What plans would you have to recycle as much as possible in the Crow's Nest area?
- What can be done, practically, to ensure that regional businesses get a fair share of the TRC purchasing of goods and services? Bearing in mind state government legislation, what can be done to effect a "buy local" policy?
- If the electors of an area within the current TRC were in favour of de-amalgamating, would you support those aspirations?
- Would you support the CN&DT&PA Inc policy of advocating for a ward system, based on the "spokes of a wheel " model, each ward represented by two councillors and each ward having part of Toowoomba, a growth area like Highfields and a rural area like Crow's Nest and district??
- What guidelines would you be advocating for the ease of businesses doing business in the TRC area - particularly small businesses?
- Our community has been part of discussions re land use and productive farm land. What are your views on productive farm land in the TRC area?
- With regard to current and proposed mining in the TRC area, what would you be advocating?
- What would your policy be re the landuse of land falling under the control of TRC?
- If there is one major project you would like to see completed in the Crow's Nest area, what would it be?
