FESTIVAL LONG  EVENTS

*Rose Festival, Brindabella Country Gardens, Highfields. 2000 roses in full bloom, new rose release. 07 4696 8440

*See the scarecrows dotting the area. Entries close Wednesday 14th October. Thanks to Crows Nest Arts Council. $300 prize money. Entry form and rules.

*Colouring competition for school children of the area. Entry forms at schools. Entries close Wednesday 14th October. Sponsored by Jumping Joey's Bouncing Castles and Party Supplies.

Friday 17th  October

* Start the festival off with the COMMUNITY CONCERT at the Lutheran Hall, Crow’s Nest. 7:30 start. Tickets at the door. 07 4698 1270

 * Poets Breakfast at Highfields Pioneer Village. Guest poets: Dan Thompson, Ron Selby & friends.
$50 cash prizes for best adult and also under 18 bush poetry recitation/reading from the audience. Thanks to the Crow’s Nest & Highfields Community branches of Heritage Building Society. 7:30am - 9:30am.

Smoko time: Free Bush Poetry writing workshop. Followed by Billy Tea and damper, blacksmithing, steam engines, draught horses.  $15 includes admission to the Pioneer Village afterwards, with funds also going to the Crows Nest & Highfields scouts.
